An iconic Mediterranean species, the Loggerhead sea turtle finds a precious refuge in the Camargue National Nature Reserve, on the region's sandy beaches. Characterized by its large size and migratory behavior, this marine turtle plays an essential role in marine ecosystems, regulating populations of jellyfish and other marine organisms. Despite its protected status, the loggerhead sea turtle faces numerous threats: loss of nesting sites, human disturbance and accidental capture in fishing nets. With a Mediterranean population estimated at just thirty thousand adult individuals, the future of this species is increasingly uncertain. 

Faced with this fragile reality, the Ross'Wild fund provides financial support for targeted conservation actions, in close collaboration with the Société Nationale de Protection de la Nature, to ensure the preservation and long-term survival of the Loggerhead sea turtle in the Mediterranean.
